As a child, she would spend hours playing word games with her mum and nan – a favourite of which was searching for a random word in the dictionary, and attempting to extrapolate as many other words within it as she could, or a tense game of Upwords.
She always assumed she would end up in publishing, having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Creative Writing; but she never imagined that she’d find herself combining work with one of her many hobbies. She’s ecstatic that she gets to do something she loves every day.
Aside from being a keen solver, she’s also an avid bibliophile, so a tome is never far away from her — she especially loves it when her favourite books appear as clues in the magazines she edits. Though, she also spends far too much time watching fictional crime shows and murder mysteries, and often jokes that if she wasn’t in publishing, she would have taken up a career as an amateur detective. She loves figuring out a ‘whodunnit’ as the whole thing is like one giant puzzle… and she’s almost always right!
But, if neither of those are on the menu, you’ll probably find her completing a jigsaw puzzle or at a pub quiz which she has been roped into by her friends. While not usually competitive, quizzes are the exception, and she is patiently waiting for the day when she can use the archive of general knowledge that she has gained through her time at Puzzles HQ to send her team to the top of the leaderboard.
