The Rolling Stones upcoming album was revealed using cryptic clues in two local newspapers.

The advertisement for ‘Hackney Diamonds’, which appeared in the Hackney Gazette and the Islington Gazette, purported to be from a glass repair company. However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to pick up on elements which suggested the rock band might be behind the campaign.

In addition to the iconic Rolling Stones tongue and lips logo forming the dot of the ‘i’ in ‘Hackney Diamonds’, the ad also referenced several of the group's hits.

The new album was later formally announced with the launch of a website and a special event in Hackney which was hosted by Jimmy Fallon and streamed live on YouTube.

There is speculation that a world tour is also on the cards.

The band’s last studio album, Blue & Lonesome, came out in 2016. This will be their first release since the death of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021.
