After celebrating Puzzle Selection’s 30th birthday last year, we decided it was time to update our look.

I’ve been the editor of Puzzle Selection since 2015. We’ve changed the cover a few times, moved puzzles around and briefly simplified the colours. On the whole, though, if you opened a 2015 issue and compared it to a 2023 one, most puzzles would appear unchanged.

Over the last several months, I’ve been meeting with the rest of the Puzzle Magazines team to work out what we want Puzzle Selection to look like.

First off, we’ve picked a new colour palette. We hope you like our light green, yellow and blue backgrounds.

We’ve also paid close attention to the solving experience. There’s more space for working out (around our Sum U Win number puzzle, for example) and loads of room for your answers to the Word Wheel.

This has been such a long time coming that I’m absolutely delighted to finally be able to share it with Puzzle Selection readers. I’m especially pleased that we managed to keep all the puzzles, even if some of them have found new homes on different pages.

This time around, there will be no barrage of letters mourning the removal of the Mega Sudoku. I’ve learned my lesson!

If I’ve piqued your interest, issue 1 is in shops until 7 February, and issue 2 will look just as lovely.
